The New Grand Council

Long ago, the world was fractured by the appearance of the Shroud Rifts — wounds in reality that opened into a realm of darkness unlike anything seen before.

From these rifts came horrors beyond imagination. Entire settlements vanished. Kingdoms burned. The creatures of the Shroud spread across the land, leaving ruin in their wake.

In desperation, the rulers of the age united beneath a single banner known as the Grand Council of Peace. Their armies marched into the rifts, determined to destroy the source of the invasion and seal the portals forever.

What they discovered instead changed the course of history.

Deep within the Shroud grew a strange mineral unlike any found in the overworld: the Shroud Crystal.

The crystals pulsed with immense power. Weapons forged with them became deadlier. Armor became stronger. Entire abilities could be fueled by their energy. What began as a war for survival quickly became a race for control.

For years, expeditions poured into the Shroud. Thousands never returned. Yet enough came back carrying crystals to convince the Council that the risk was worth the reward.

Among them was one council member who saw what the others did not.

The Shroud was not merely a threat.

It was an opportunity.

While the other rulers searched for ways to close the rifts, he mastered the refinement of Shroud Crystals and built an empire upon their power. The resources flowing from the Shroud made him wealthier than kings, stronger than armies, and feared by every nation.

He possessed the means to seal the rifts forever.

Instead, he chose to keep them open.

One by one, the lands of the other council members fell beneath his rule. Some surrendered willingly and pledged loyalty to his vision. Others resisted and were crushed beneath the growing might of what would become the New Grand Council.

Today, the Council governs nearly every civilized land. Their wealth, influence, and military power are built upon a single truth:

The Shroud must never close.

Every crystal recovered strengthens their rule. Every expedition fuels their empire. Every warrior serves a purpose.

To maintain their dominance, the Council created three great proving grounds.

The Shroud is their greatest source of power — a shifting realm that collapses and reforms every ninety minutes. Brave adventurers enter its ever-changing landscape in search of crystals, artifacts, and fortune. Some arrive equipped with little more than standard gear. Others risk their most prized equipment for the chance to return even stronger. Many enter. Not all return.

The Crucible is the Council's ultimate trial of champions. Combatants wield unique abilities, powerful artifacts, and specialized combat styles as they battle through a deadly contest where only one victor remains standing. Here, legends are forged through skill, strategy, and survival.

The Mosh Pit serves as the Council's training grounds. Mercenaries, soldiers, and aspiring warriors sharpen their abilities through relentless combat across shifting battlefields, competing in a variety of military engagements designed to prepare them for greater conflicts ahead.

Across all three proving grounds, one goal remains the same.
