The Shroud

A hostile dimension that resets every hour. Enter, mine Ember Crystals, and extract before it is too late. Everything you carry stays behind when you die.

The Grand Council does not mine its own crystals. You do.

The Shroud is the Council's engine room — a hostile dimension they ripped open beneath the Frontier and flooded with Ember Ore. The crystals you pull from its walls are converted to Coins and fed back into the economy they control. Every extraction run keeps the Crucible running. Every death means you leave empty-handed and they lose nothing.

The faction that extracts the most crystals each week proves its dominance. The Council notices — and rewards the strongest.

The Risk

  • Die and every Ember Crystal in your inventory drops at your corpse.
  • Your gear from inside the Shroud is lost. Your pre-Shroud inventory is restored when you respawn.
  • You have a limited number of entries per reset cycle. Use them all and you are locked out until the next reset.
  • When the world resets, anyone still inside is evicted with nothing — no payout, no warning.

The Reward

  • Successfully extract and each Ember Crystal converts directly to Coins.
  • Coins fuel wagers, bounties, and the Gamemaster bid — the highest earners shape the server.
  • If an enemy dies with crystals, you can re-enter to collect their drops.
  • The faction with the highest weekly crystal extraction earns exclusive server rewards.
Step by Step

How The Shroud Works

Find the Portal

In The Frontier, locate the nether portal at the hub. Your pre-Shroud inventory is automatically saved. You enter with nothing but your wits and an Exit Finder compass.

Mine Ember Ore

Ember Ore veins spawn throughout the Shroud world underground, between Y=20 and Y=55. Break them to collect Ember Crystals. Each vein drops 1 to 2 crystals. The more you mine, the bigger the potential payout.

Find an Exit Platform

Three exit platforms are scattered around the map — stone base, iron inlays, gold block centre, sea lanterns at the corners. Right-click your compass to lock it onto the nearest one and see the distance. Platform locations change every reset.

Extract

Stand still on the gold block at the centre of an exit platform for 10 consecutive seconds. Your HUD counts down. Move and it resets. Reach zero and your crystals convert to Coins instantly — your pre-Shroud inventory is restored and you are returned to the Frontier.

Always Know Where You Are

The Action Bar HUD

Every second inside the Shroud, your action bar shows three pieces of critical information.

Your live Ember Crystal count. This is what you stand to lose if you die — and what you will convert if you extract.

Navigation

Exit Direction

Cardinal direction and distance to the nearest exit platform. Right-click the Exit Finder compass to lock the needle and pin the distance.

Timer

Reset Timer

Time until the world resets. Turns yellow at 5 minutes, red at 2 minutes. When it hits zero, you are evicted with nothing.

Weekly Competition

Faction Crystal Rankings

Crystal extraction is not just an individual effort. Factions compete to dominate the weekly rankings.

Weekly Faction Rewards

At the end of each week, the faction that has collectively extracted the most Ember Crystals earns exclusive server rewards. More members running The Shroud means more crystals, and a stronger grip on the leaderboard.

Coordinate your faction's runs. Protect your members inside. Steal crystals from rivals. The Grand Council is watching — and they reward the strongest.
